There is no requirement to wear a uniform straight away. Your child can wear ordinary clothes to begin with, whilst they settle in and you are confident they wish to become a member of the Scout Group. The nearest Scout Shop is in Sheffield, where you can try uniform on for size before purchasing.
Uniform only has to be worn once invested. If you are in financial hardship, there is a fund available from the Scout Association to help with purchasing a uniform, but to apply for this, you may have to disclose financial information. Unfortunately, there is no such funding available for paying membership fees, known as subs. The first session is free of charge. Thereafter, the subs are £4.50 per session. We have a card machine for contactless payments. Once confirmed in the group you’ll be able to use our online system called OSM where we process payments.
See the attached membership details form and our group’s privacy notice in compliance with GDPR. This form only needs to be completed once you have decided to join our Scout Group.
You are welcome to stay and observe if you wish to do so. However, many of the parents drop off and pick up and the end of the meeting. If you do decide to leave, we will require you to provide the leaders on the night with a contact telephone number.
